A
RESOLUTION
Commending
Paul Rice, Hart County High School's 2011 STAR Student, and Ms. Ana Gordy, Hart
County High School's 2011 STAR Teacher; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
a proper quality education for the young people of this state is the single most
important objective of the General Assembly; and
WHEREAS,
Paul Rice has shown by the example of his academic accomplishments that the
pursuit and attainment of scholastic success are within the reach of the
students in this state; and
WHEREAS,
this remarkable scholar has earned distinction through his superlative
achievements at Hart County High School where he was a gifted student and was
selected as Hart County High School's 2011 STAR Student; and
WHEREAS,
to be selected as a STAR Student for a high school, a student must have obtained
the highest score in one administration of the new three-part Scholastic
Aptitude Test taken through the November test date of his or her senior year and
be in the top ten percent or top ten students of his or her class;
and
WHEREAS,
each school has one STAR Student who in turn has the opportunity to choose a
STAR Teacher that has inspired and encouraged them throughout their high school
career; and
WHEREAS,
Paul chose Hart County High School educator Ms. Ana Gordy as his STAR teacher,
who provided support and guidance throughout the years and encouraged Paul to
achieve his utmost potential; and
WHEREAS,
a Hart County native, Paul scored 2090 on the Scholastic Aptitude Test, earned a
4.0 grade point average, and is a member of 4-H, Spanish Honor Society, the
National Art Honor Society, and the Pagemasters; and
WHEREAS,
an 18-year veteran educator, Ms. Gordy taught Spanish to Paul for over three
years and has served as his cross-country coach; and
WHEREAS,
the State of Georgia looks with great anticipation toward the future of this
bright and promising young citizen.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body heartily commend Paul Rice and Ms. Ana Gordy for their selection as
Hart County High School's 2011 STAR Student and 2011 STAR Teacher.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit appropriate copies of this resolution to Paul Rice and
Ms. Ana Gordy.
