A
RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the Allstate Corporation and Mr. Thomas J. Wilson; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Allstate Corporation was one of the first United States insurance and
financial services companies to publish an annual Social Responsibility report;
and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Thomas J. Wilson has diligently and conscientiously dedicated his time,
talents, and energy to Allstate, ensuring the company's success with his
leadership and guidance as chairman, president, and chief executive officer;
and
WHEREAS,
Allstate has received numerous honors and awards for corporate social
responsibility, including being named one of the 100 Best Corporate Citizens by
CRO
Magazine, among the best 100 companies and
best companies for women of color by
Working Mother
magazine, a top 10 company for female
executives by the National Association for Female Executives, Corporate Equality
Index and Best Places to Work by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation, and a Top
100 Company for Employee Training and Development by
Training
magazine; and
WHEREAS,
since 1976, Allstate's more than 125 employee-led Helping Hands Committees have
coordinated volunteerism efforts in communities across the country;
and
WHEREAS,
Allstate maintains an Employee Giving Campaign, in which the company matches 15
cents of every dollar donated by employees, and agency owners contribute an
additional 5 cents to the United Way; and
WHEREAS,
Allstate makes loans to help local chapters of national organizations to help
develop vacant lots, build new facilities, and provide young adults with
services that support job readiness, placement, and training; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Wilson has been recognized with numerous honors and awards throughout his
career, including a 2010 Salute to Greatness Award from the King Center, which
honors outstanding efforts toward building Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s
"Beloved Community"; and
WHEREAS,
a company concerned about the environment for future generations, Allstate
invests in wind, hydro, and geothermal projects, recently began funding a solar
power project in Nevada, and plans to commit at least $200 million in
environmentally beneficial investments over the next three years;
and
WHEREAS,
the outstanding service Allstate provides customers, employees, local
communities, and future generations, and the incredible leadership of Mr. Wilson
is worthy of recognition.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend the Allstate Corporation for creating a welcoming and
supportive work environment and encouraging employees to give back to others
through the company's fine example and recognize Mr. Thomas J. Wilson for making
this amazing company what it is today.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Thomas J.
Wilson.
