A
RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Dr. Johnny L. Wilson; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Dr. Johnny L. Wilson has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for
the vital role that he has played in higher education and his deep personal
commitment to the students of Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science with a minor in history
and urban affairs from Winston-Salem State University, a Master of Arts degree
in political science from Central Missouri State University, and a PhD in
political science from Atlanta University; and
WHEREAS,
Dr. Wilson has an extensive teaching career, including positions as director of
the pre-law program, interim chair, chair, and assistant professor for the
department of political science at Clark Atlanta University; assistant professor
for the social science department at Clark College; and teaching at numerous
elementary, middle, and high schools in the Atlanta Public School System;
and
WHEREAS,
he has received numerous honors, including the Faculty Teaching Excellence
Award, the World's Greatest Teacher Award, the Master Institute Mentor Award,
and the Parent Participation Award; and
WHEREAS,
in recognition of his contributions to higher education in this state, it is
abundantly fitting and proper for this body to honor the extraordinary
commitment and accomplishments of this outstanding individual.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Dr. Johnny L. Wilson for his sacrifice, foresight,
accomplishments, and contributions on behalf of education in Georgia and for the
positive influence he has had upon the lives and futures of countless young
people in this state.
BE IT FURTHER
RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and
directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Dr. Johnny L.
Wilson.
