RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Representative Stephanie Stuckey Benfield on the occasion of her
retirement; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Representative Stephanie Stuckey Benfield has long been recognized by the
citizens of this state for the vital role that she has played in leadership and
her deep personal commitment to the welfare of the citizens of Georgia;
and
WHEREAS,
she has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of her time,
talents, and energy toward the betterment of her community and state as
evidenced dramatically by her superlative service with the Georgia House of
Representatives; and
WHEREAS,
she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Georgia in 1989 and
graduated cum laude from the University of Georgia School of Law in 1992;
and
WHEREAS,
she began her career as a public defender, then started her own law practice,
Stuckey and Manheimer, LLC, where she worked until 2002; and
WHEREAS,
a woman of deep and abiding faith, Representative Stuckey Benfield is an active
member of Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church; and
WHEREAS,
she is united in love and marriage to Robert H. Benfield, Jr., and together they
are blessed with two remarkable children, Robert and Beverly; and
WHEREAS,
Representative Stuckey Benfield's significant organizational and leadership
talents, her remarkable patience and diplomacy, her keen sense of vision, and
her sensitivity to the needs of the citizens of this state have earned her the
respect and admiration of her colleagues and associates; and
WHEREAS,
she is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for
integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and
WHEREAS,
Representative Stuckey Benfield has served with honor and distinction with the
Georgia House of Representatives and her vision and unyielding commitment will
be sorely missed upon the occasion of her retirement; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this
remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Representative Stephanie Stuckey Benfield for her efficient,
effective, unselfish, and dedicated public service to the State of Georgia,
congratulate her upon the grand occasion of her retirement, and extend to her
their most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to
Representative Stephanie Stuckey Benfield.
