RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Representative Elly Dobbs on the occasion of her retirement; and
for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Representative Elly Dobbs has long been recognized by the citizens of this state
for the vital role that she has played in leadership and her deep personal
commitment to the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
she has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of her time,
talents, and energy toward the betterment of her community and state as
evidenced dramatically by her superlative service with the Georgia House of
Representatives where she serves on the Judiciary Committee, the Health and
Human Services Committee, and the Game, Fish, and Parks Committee;
and
WHEREAS,
she is a member of the State Bar of Georgia and the Florida Bar, the Women's
Caucus, and the Fulton County Delegation and is involved in numerous
organizations, including Roadsafe America, Trees Atlanta, Alzheimer's Society of
Atlanta, Prevent Child Abuse Georgia, Emory Urology Department, and Meals on
Wheels; and
WHEREAS,
Representative Dobbs served as an associate vice president for Sun Bank, was an
assistant attorney general with the Florida Department of Justice, an attorney
with the Dade County Attorney in Miami, and practiced law at Parker, Hudson
& Rainer; and
WHEREAS,
a woman of deep and abiding faith, Representative Dobbs is an active member of
Trinity Presbyterian Church where she serves as an elder, mission council
member, justice, advocacy, and public policy committee chairperson, and Sunday
school teacher for over ten years; and
WHEREAS,
she is united in love and marriage and is blessed with three remarkable
children; and
WHEREAS, Representative
Dobbs' significant organizational and leadership talents, her remarkable
patience and diplomacy, her keen sense of vision, and her sensitivity to the
needs of the citizens of this state have earned her the respect and admiration
of her colleagues and associates; and
WHEREAS,
Representative Dobbs has served with honor and distinction with the House of
Representatives and her vision and unyielding commitment to her constituents
will be sorely missed upon the occasion of her retirement; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this
remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Representative Elly Dobbs for her efficient, effective,
unselfish, and dedicated public service to the State of Georgia, congratulate
her upon the grand occasion of her retirement, and extend to her their most
sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to
Representative Elly Dobbs.
