A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending the World Affairs Council of Atlanta; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the mission of the World Affairs Council of Atlanta is to provide a forum for dialogue, a source of expertise, and an engine for research on international affairs and global issues that impact the corporate community, governmental and nongovernmental organizations, and the general public; and

WHEREAS, the World Affairs Council of Atlanta provides a critical forum for a discussion of international issues through public briefings with diplomats, global business leaders, and country experts; and

WHEREAS, the World Affairs Council of Atlanta hosts world-class programs that further global understanding and enhance Georgia's international competitiveness; and

WHEREAS, the World Affairs Council of Atlanta cultivates the region's promising young leaders through its Young Leaders program which provides opportunitites for young professionals who wish to develop their understanding of international issues and strengthen their leadership skills; and

WHEREAS, the World Affairs Council of Atlanta promotes an interest in government and politics; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this distinguished organization be appropriately recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend the World Affairs Council of Atlanta for empowering the citizens of Georgia to be educated on global issues and international affairs.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit appropriate copies of this resolution to the World Affairs Council of Atlanta.
