RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Mr. Michael Hightower; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mr. Michael Hightower earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Clark College and
conducted post-graduate studies at Georgia State University; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Hightower is the founder and managing partner of The Collaborative Firm,
LLC, and with nearly 30 years of experience in the public, private, and
educational arenas, he provides a wealth of experience in public policy, with an
emphasis on planning, economic development, and local government issues;
and
WHEREAS,
he served as a member of the College Park City Council, a member and vice
chairman of the Fulton County Board of Commissioners, president of the National
Association of Counties, director of community development at Barton Malow
Company, and a staff member in the affirmative actions office of the financial
affairs division at Georgia State University; and
WHEREAS,
his representative project experience includes working with the Clayton County
Zoning Ordinance Update, the Clayton County Zoning Overlay Districts, the
Scottdale Revitalization Plan, the City of East Point Livable Centers
Initiative, and the Riverdale Town Center Livable Centers initiative;
and
WHEREAS,
he has received nearly 300 awards and recognitions from entities such as the
White House, National Association of
Counties, Georgia
Trend Magazine, South Fulton Chamber of
Commerce, Clark Atlanta University, Georgia State University, and Alpha Phi
Alpha Fraternity; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Hightower's significant organizational and leadership talents, his
remarkable patience and diplomacy, his keen sense of vision, and his sensitivity
to the needs of the citizens of this state have earned him the respect and
admiration of his colleagues and associates; and
WHEREAS,
he is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for
integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this
remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Mr. Michael Hightower for his efficient, effective, unselfish,
and dedicated public service to the State of Georgia.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Michael
Hightower.
