A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Miss Laurel Noelle Higginbotham, 2012 Georgia Watermelon Queen; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Miss Laurel Noelle Higginbotham was selected as the 2012 Georgia Watermelon Queen by the Georgia Watermelon Association, and in Miss Higginbotham, the association found a deserving queen and a talented, beautiful, and accomplished young woman; and

WHEREAS, Miss Higginbotham, beloved daughter of Ronald and Teressa Kimbrell, is a student at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) where she is majoring in pre-dentistry; and

WHEREAS, as Georgia Watermelon Queen, Miss Higginbotham is the official spokesperson for the Georgia Watermelon Association, and she will make many appearances across the state in 2012 on behalf of Georgia's watermelon industry as the public relations representative for the State of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, Miss Higginbotham has been an ABAC Ambassador for the past three years, 2011 Miss ABAC, on the dean's list for four semesters, the 2009 Appling County High Academic Cup-Speech and Drama winner, and 2011 Parliamentarian; and

WHEREAS, an active member in the community, Miss Higginbotham reads to students, choreographs the show choir for elementary students, wrote the Voice of Democracy essay, and was a 4-H Eagle summer camp counselor, sailing instructor, lifeguard, variety show choreographer, and wildlife instructor; and

WHEREAS, her hobbies include singing, Zumba, rabbit hunting, running, and baking cakes; and

WHEREAS, with her poise, beauty, and intelligence, Miss Higginbotham is sure to be an exemplary representative of agriculture and the watermelon industry in Georgia.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Miss Laurel Noelle Higginbotham on her selection as the 2012 Georgia Watermelon Queen and for her many achievements and outstanding representation of the State of Georgia and its agricultural heritage.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Miss Laurel Noelle Higginbotham.
