A RESOLUTION


Commending the House Interns for the 2012 Regular Session; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the Georgia Legislative Internship Program is one of the nation's oldest educational internships to focus on the state legislative process; and

WHEREAS, the internship program is a cooperative venture between the Georgia General Assembly and institutions of higher learning in Georgia; and it provides a select group of students in-depth exposure to the House and the Senate by assigning them to assist key standing committees and legislative leaders; and

WHEREAS, 2012 marks the seventh year of the Georgia House of Representatives Speaker's Internship Program, giving students chosen for the program an opportunity to be involved first-hand in the important work of this body; and

WHEREAS, the 26 students selected for the House Legislative Internship Program, the Speaker's Internship Program, and the University of Georgia Family and Consumer Science Program represent some of the best and the brightest college students in our state who share a genuine interest in the lawmaking process and a potential commitment to public service; and

WHEREAS, participants in this outstanding program are students from Clayton State University, Georgia State University, Georgia College & State University, the University of Georgia, the Georgia Institute of Technology, Mercer University, the University of West Georgia, Kennesaw State University, Georgia Gwinnett College, and Southern Polytechnic State University; and

WHEREAS, the unique experience of participating as a House Intern has undoubtedly enriched the academic study these college students have completed; and

WHEREAS, the members of the standing committees and legislative leaders benefited greatly from the service of these interns and salute each of these students on a job well done: House Interns Tyler Adams, James Baker, Elizabeth Bettis, Michael Boland, Graham Goldberg, Silas Harrington, Brian Heinze, Ethan Hyde, Meiling Lamquach-Holt, Madison Lee, Joshua Lord, Origen Monsanto, Shaun Moore, Doug Roberts, Kimmia Salehi, Shaina Salman, Kayla Washington, Justin Leef, Assante' Lynch, Chris Knittel, Carl Thomas, Christina Hodskins, Lauren Robinson, Tanacia Lovence, George Robles, and Jessica Stillwell.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that this body commends the House Interns for the 2012 Regular Session on their superb performance and conveys its best wishes to them for success in their future pursuits.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to each of the interns named herein.
