RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Mrs. Helen Grayson; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Helen Grayson has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for
the vital role that she has played in leadership and her deep personal
commitment to the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
a native of Fremont, Michigan, Mrs. Grayson graduated from DePauw University and
has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of her time,
talents, and energy toward the betterment of her community and this state;
and
WHEREAS,
she has been a member of the Utility Club of Griffin since 1973, serving as
president from 1978-1979, and was recognized as member of the year from
1981-1982; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Grayson has served on the Pine Valley Girl Scout Board of Directors, the
Board of Directors of Wachovia Bank, the Board of the Downtown Development
Authority, and the Board of Trustees for Griffin Technical College;
and
WHEREAS,
her leadership and guidance have been instrumental to numerous community and
civic organizations, including the Board of Trustees of First United Methodist
Church, the Plant the Future Board, the Friends of the Research and Education
Garden Board, the Board of Elections and Registration, and the Spalding Regional
Hospital Board of Directors; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Grayson has been recognized with numerous awards and honors, including a
Guiding Light Award from the Griffin Chamber of Commerce, an Excellence in
Community Service Award from the Daughters of the American Revolution, a Strong
Leadership Award from the Pine Valley Girl Scout Council, a 1990 BPW Woman of
the Year Award, and she was voted best volunteer for several years by the
Griffin Daily
News;
and
WHEREAS, she has been united in love and marriage to her supportive husband, Dr. Tom Grayson, since 1963, and they have been blessed with their children, Cathy and Paul Birkhead and Mike and Brandy Grayson, and six grandchildren, Taylor, Olivia, Zachary, Sophie, Jake, and Grant; and

WHEREAS,
Mrs. Grayson is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable
reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this
remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Mrs. Helen Grayson for her years of efficient, effective,
unselfish, and dedicated public service to her community and this
state.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mrs. Helen
Grayson.
