A RESOLUTION

Commending Heard Mixon Elementary School and Dole Food Company and inviting Dole Food Company President Brad Bartlett and Vice President Marty Ordman and Heard Mixon Elementary School's 4-H representative, Kim Lawrence, to be recognized by the House of Representatives; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Dole Food Company has shown an incredible commitment to the State of Georgia with the goal of combating childhood obesity and building a healthy environment that encourages all to eat better and move more; and

WHEREAS, Heard Mixon Elementary School has shown an incredible commitment to the State of Georgia with the goal of combating childhood obesity and building a healthy school environment that encourages students and staff to eat healthier and exercise more; and

WHEREAS, Heard Mixon Elementary School in Newton County has shown an incredible commitment to becoming a healthier school and has been recognized as a Raise the (Salad) Bar winning school, part of the Healthy Kids Georgia Program in collaboration with Georgia 4-H and Dole Food Company; and

WHEREAS, children who grow up learning about health and wellness are better prepared for the challenges of adult life, and the Healthy Kids Georgia Program equips students with the knowledge and tools to combat not only obesity problems, but also other challenges faced in their daily lives.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Heard Mixon Elementary School and Dole Food Company for their efforts to improve the health of Georgia's youth and invite Dole Food Company President Brad Bartlett and Vice President Marty Ordman and Heard Mixon Elementary School's 4-H representative, Kim Lawrence, to be recognized by the House of Representatives at a date and time designated by the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Dole Food Company President Brad Bartlett and Vice President Marty Ordman and Heard Mixon Elementary School's 4-H representative, Kim Lawrence.
