A
RESOLUTION
Recognizing
the Veterans Remembered Flag; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Veterans Remembered Flag was designed by Jim Parks, a World War II veteran
who lives in California and is a member of the Sonoma Veterans Memorial Park
Association; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Parks created the flag after realizing that there was no flag in existence
that honored veterans, both living and deceased; and
WHEREAS,
veterans are the largest contingency group of military personnel and the flag
symbolizes their service; and
WHEREAS,
the flag mirrors the design of the Medal of Honor and depicts the founding of
this nation by the 13 stars that come from the large red star that represents
this nation and the five branches of the country's military; and
WHEREAS,
the white star indicates the veterans' dedication to service, the blue star
honors all who serve in the military in the past, present, and future, the gold
star memorializes those who fell defending the nation, and the green field
represents the hallowed ground where all rest eternally; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the Veterans Remembered Flag be
appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body recognize the Veterans Remembered Flag as a national symbol of the
service provided by all the members of the military.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the public
