RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Mr. Arthur Queen; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mr. Arthur Queen was born on April 17, 1942, in Washington, D.C.;
and
WHEREAS,
he attended Prince George's Community College and Delaware State University and
received a certificate for glass management from Georgetown University;
and
WHEREAS,
in March of 1986, Mr. Queen established Ebony Glass and Mirror Company, Inc.,
now known as EGM Services, Inc.; and
WHEREAS,
after celebrating 25 years in business this past March, he now serves as the
chairman where he continues to establish effective customer relations and
provides the general public with satisfactory service in the construction
industry; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Queen has received numerous public recognitions, including being inducted
into the Atlanta Business League's Hall of Fame in 2011 and as a National
Association of Minority Contractors Hall of Fame member in 2001, named as one of
the Atlanta Business League's Men of Influence, and honored with the Small
Business Award by the Greater Atlanta Economic Alliance in 2009 and the Parren
Mitchell Award in 2001; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Queen is a member of the 100 Black Men of DeKalb, Georgia Glass Dealers
Association, Atlanta Business League, DeKalb Chamber of Commerce, Better
Business Bureau, Georgia Association of Minority Entrepreneurs, Georgia Minority
Supplier Development Council, Greater Economic Alliance, Atlanta Chapter
President of the National Association of Minority Contractors, and chairman of
the board of DEBCO; and
WHEREAS,
a man of deep and abiding faith, Mr. Queen is an active member of Love Life
Christian Fellowship Church where he serves as deacon; and
WHEREAS,
he has been united in love and marriage to Sandra for 30 years; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the accomplishments of this
distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Mr. Arthur Queen for his 25 years of efficient, effective,
unselfish, and dedicated public service to the State of Georgia.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Arthur
Queen.
