Recognizing and commending Dr. Cindy Bennett for being named the 2011-2012 National Outstanding Middle Level Assistant Principal; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Dr. Cindy Bennett was named the 2011-2012 National Outstanding Middle Level Assistant Principal by the National Association of Elementary School Principals; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Bennett was selected by an awards committee of the Georgia Association of Middle School Principals (GAMSP); and

WHEREAS, previously having been an assistant principal at Arbor Springs Elementary School, this is her sixth year as an assistant principal in Coweta County and fourth year as an assistant principal at Lee Middle School; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Bennett has been a classroom teacher, math department chair, SBLT chair, and team leader at Madras Middle School and a cheerleading coach for five years at Northgate High School; and

WHEREAS, she has been honored numerous times, including receiving a GAMSP Effective Middle School Program Award and as a GAMSP Mike Campbell Effective Leadership recipient; and

WHEREAS, she has instituted positive behavior programs at Lee Middle School, such as the Way of the Wolf and the Behavior Education Program; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Bennett earned her bachelor's degree in middle grades education from West Georgia College in 1996, a master's degree in middle grades education from the State University of West Georgia in 2001, a master's degree in educational leadership from the University of Phoenix in 2006, a specialist degree in educational leadership from Argosy University in 2009, and a doctorate degree in educational leadership from Argosy University in 2011; and

WHEREAS, nothing is more vital to the future of our state than the education of our young people, and Dr. Bennett has exemplified the selfless dedication and professionalism which are characteristic of our finest educators; and

WHEREAS, it is appropriate that this body join in expressing appreciation to Dr. Bennett for her outstanding efforts and accomplishments in education.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Dr. Cindy Bennett for her 15 years of sacrifice, foresight, accomplishment, and contributions on behalf of education in Georgia and recognize her for being named the 2011-2012 National Outstanding Middle Level Assistant Principal.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Dr. Cindy Bennett.
