RESOLUTION
Commending
the Hutcheson Medical Center Laboratory and recognizing the week of April 18-24,
2010, as Lab Week at the state capitol; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Hutcheson Medical Center Laboratory has 37 highly trained medical
technologists, medical laboratory technicians, histotechnicians, and
cytotechnicians that provide quality service to the citizens of Northwest
Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
demand for medical laboratory testing is increasing due to the growing world
population, stronger emphasis being placed on preventative medicine, and an
explosion of new medical technologies; and
WHEREAS,
the technical staff of the Hutcheson Medical Center Laboratory all hold
nationally recognized certifications for clinical laboratory professionals from
the American Society of Clinical Pathology, the American Medical Technologists,
or the American Association of Bioanalysts; and
WHEREAS,
accredited by the Joint Commission and the American Association for Blood Banks,
the Hutcheson Medical Center Laboratory performs approximately 450,000 tests per
year and provides service to Hutcheson Hospital patients and the surrounding
community through outreach programs and physician office services;
and
WHEREAS,
under the astute direction and leadership of board certified pathologist Dr.
Lori D. Emerson, the Hutcheson Medical Center Laboratory provides professional
and technical expertise that results in quality performance and patient safety;
and
WHEREAS,
the Hutcheson Medical Center Laboratory has earned a well-deserved reputation
for quality customer care, state of the art equipment, and efficient service
that is worthy of recognition.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend the Hutcheson Medical Center Laboratory for providing quality
health care services to the patients of Georgia and recognize the week of April
18-24, 2010, as Lab Week at the state capitol.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Hutcheson
Medical Center Laboratory.
