RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending SRO Mark Hopper; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
SRO Mark Hopper of the Glynn County School Police has been recognized with a
Valor Service Award from the Peace Officers Association of Georgia;
and
WHEREAS,
SRO Hopper is highly regarded by the citizens of his community and state and by
local government officials as a person of unquestioned integrity and dedication
to the sound principles of law enforcement; and
WHEREAS,
SRO Hopper was tactically aware that an angry parent at Brunswick High School
retrieved a 9mm pistol from his vehicle before walking up to two other officers
in absolute rage and proceed to verbally spew expletives; and
WHEREAS,
SRO Hopper managed to maneuver around and behind the suspect undetected, and
without hesitation he skillfully disarmed him; and
WHEREAS,
he used his training and experience as well as sheer valor in bringing a
peaceful end to the situation; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the extraordinary accomplishments of
this distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend the courageous and selfless dedication of SRO Mark Hopper and
recognize him on receiving the Valor Service Award.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to SRO Mark
Hopper.
