A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending 26th Annual Heart of the Community Award Winner Shirley Miller Denmon; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Shirley Miller Denmon's reputation for community service and selfless dedication to others has been recognized by the Heart of the Community Foundation, Inc., and the Redmond Regional Medical Center with a 2012 Heart of the Community Award; and

WHEREAS, founded in 1987, the Heart of the Community Foundation Award honors community leaders, with more than 150 individuals recognized for their altruistic service; and

WHEREAS, an active member of her community, Ms. Denmon has been involved with the Habitat for Humanity Board and Family Selection Committee, the Board of South Rome Community Association, the United Land Development Committee, and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference; and

WHEREAS, she has received numerous honors, including the Appreciation Award from the Floyd County Board of Commissioners, the Jean Harris Award from the Rotary Club, and the Outstanding Community Service Award from the American Legion; and

WHEREAS, she is a graduate of Coosa Valley Technical College and Georgia Highlands College with an associate's degree in secretarial science; and

WHEREAS, the benevolent and honorable deeds of this charitable woman serve as a shining example of volunteerism, and the State of Georgia is honored and blessed to have Shirley Miller Denmon as a citizen.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Shirley Miller Denmon on her outstanding community service and congratulate her on her receipt of the prestigious 2012 Heart of the Community Award.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Shirley Miller Denmon.
