A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending Colonel Rainer G. Gomez; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Colonel Rainer G. Gomez is a member of the 165th Airlift Wing of the Georgia Air National Guard and assumed command of its Operations Group in November of 2011; and

WHEREAS, he was recently promoted to the rank of colonel on December 17, 2011; and

WHEREAS, he is a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Desert Storm, and operations on Bosnia; and

WHEREAS, Colonel Gomez has been awarded the Bronze Star; and

WHEREAS, he has logged over 5,000 flight hours and is a Master Navigator flying T-37, T-43, B-52G, and C-130E/H2 aircraft; and

WHEREAS, Colonel Gomez embodies the spirit of service, willing to find meaning in something greater than himself, and it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments and sacrifices of this remarkable and distinguished American be honored appropriately.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Colonel Rainer G. Gomez on his promotion to the rank of colonel and express their most profound appreciation for him and all members of the United States military who stand ever ready to lay the ultimate sacrifice upon the altar of freedom.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Colonel Rainer G. Gomez.
