A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Mrs. Bettina Polite Tate; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Mrs. Bettina Polite Tate, an educator at Johnson High School, is widely recognized throughout her community and the state as the personification of excellence in education; and

WHEREAS, in recognition of her outstanding dedication to academic achievement, Mrs. Tate has been named the 2011 Savannah-Chatham County School System Teacher of the Year; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Tate graduated third in her class from Johnson High School and returned to her alma mater to challenge students to achieve their utmost potential after spending a few years in the business field and desiring for her life to have a higher purpose; and

WHEREAS, this dedicated professional educator teaches marketing and International Baccalaureate Business courses, staging her classes as businesses with students transformed into account managers at work; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Tate was chosen from a group of 52 finalists from the Savannah-Chatham County area, and as the 2011 Teacher of the Year she will serve on the district's faculty senate and represent teachers during Savannah-Chatham Board of Education meetings; and

WHEREAS, nothing is more vital to the future of our state than the education of our young people, and during her teaching career, Mrs. Tate has exemplified the selfless dedication and professionalism which are characteristic of our finest educators; and

WHEREAS, it is appropriate that this body join in expressing appreciation to Mrs. Tate for her outstanding efforts and accomplishments in professional education.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that Mrs. Bettina Polite Tate is hereby recognized, commended, and congratulated upon her selection as Teacher of the Year; and gratitude is expressed for the great credit this fine educator reflects upon the Savannah-Chatham County School System and the State of Georgia.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mrs. Bettina Polite Tate.
