A
RESOLUTION
Recognizing
the Buford High School Lady Wolves softball team on their second straight AA
State Championship title and inviting the team and coaches to appear before the
House of Representatives; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Buford High School Lady Wolves softball team demonstrated a repeat feat of
greatness with a 5-1 victory over Calhoun High School to clinch the 2008 AA
State Championship, proving once again that the Lady Wolves softball team is a
force to be reckoned with; and
WHEREAS,
pitcher Karly Fullem displayed nerves of steel and poise on the mound for the
championship game, holding her opponent to only two hits and racking up 13
strikeouts; and
WHEREAS,
despite powerhouse pitching, Buford was forced into extra innings against
Calhoun, but the Lady Wolves persevered and broke into an amazing victory in the
eighth inning with RBI singles from Kellie Case, Alysha Rudnik, and Whitney
Holman and an RBI double from Lexi Overstreet; and
WHEREAS,
this all star team included 16 stellar athletes dedicated to bringing a second
state title home to Buford: Alysha Rudnik, Andrea Hannah, Ansley Kozloski,
Brandi Hellemn, Cara Cole, Chelsie Thomas, Kallie Case, Karley Fullem, Kodi
Ricketson, Lauren D'Amico, Lexi Overstreet, Melissa Dickie, Samantha Ramey,
Tricia Warbington, Whitney Holman, and Whitney Wolfe; and
WHEREAS,
pushing these athletes to achieve mental and physical toughness, Head Coach Tony
Wolfe displayed astute direction, dedication, and determination;
and
WHEREAS,
the 2008 roster was comprised of superlative athletes, many being honored on the
2008 AA All State Team, including Alysha Rudnik, Whitney Holman, Melissa Dickie,
and Chelsie Thomas on first team; Karly Fullem, Kallie Case, and Lexi Overstreet
on second team; and Samantha Ramey and Whitney Wolfe with honorable mentions;
and
WHEREAS,
two Lady Wolves were named best in Georgia: Whitney Holman earned the title of
the Georgia Dugout Club AA State Player of the Year, and Alysha Rudnik was named
the G.A.C.A. State Player of the Year; and
WHEREAS,
this magnificent team performed with precision throughout the season, as
evidenced by their back to back state championship title, and have come to earn
their well-deserved reputation for high standards of athletic achievement,
quality of play, and superior sportsmanship.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend the Buford High School Lady Wolves softball team for its
unparalleled achievements and extend their sincerest best wishes for continued
success in the future.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Buford High School Lady Wolves softball team is
invited to appear before the House of Representatives at a date and time to be
fixed by the Speaker of the House for the purpose of being recognized by the
House and receiving an appropriate copy of this resolution.
