RESOLUTION
Honoring
the life and memory of Gail Denise Thomas; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens
with the passing of Gail Denise Thomas on January 24, 2012; and
WHEREAS,
Gail Denise Thomas was born on December 22, 1965, in Atlanta, Georgia, a beloved
daughter of Juliet Mack Thomas and Early Thomas, and respected mother to her
daughter, Jasmine; and
WHEREAS,
she was a graduate of the S.H. Archer Class in 1983 and from Georgia Military
College in 2004 with a degree in Criminal Justice; and
WHEREAS,
she was a dedicated police officer with the Atlanta Police Department for nearly
20 years, and reached the rank of Senior Patrol Officer; and
WHEREAS,
she served with the honor guard, the Red Dog Unit, staff inspections, and as a
field training officer to new recruits; and
WHEREAS,
she diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of her time,
talents, and energy to protecting and serving her community and state as
evidenced dramatically by nearly two decades of superlative public service and
work in law enforcement; and
WHEREAS,
a compassionate and generous woman, Gail Denise Thomas will long be remembered
for her love of family and friendship, and this loyal mother, daughter, and
friend will be missed by all who had the great fortune of knowing
her.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join in honoring the life and memory of Gail Denise Thomas, commend
her selfless dedication to the Atlanta Police Department, and express their
deepest and most sincere regret at her passing.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of
Gail Denise Thomas.
