RESOLUTION
Honoring
and celebrating the 100th birthday of Deacon Sally Thomas; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
Deacon Sally Thomas was born on January 12, 1912, in Waynesboro, Georgia;
and
WHEREAS,
a man of deep and abiding faith, Deacon Thomas has been a member of the Mt.
Calvary Baptist Church for 83 years and has served as deacon for over 40 years;
and
WHEREAS,
his spiritual guidance demonstrated throughout his church and community serves
as an example and inspiration for all of the Faith Community; and
WHEREAS,
the devotion, patience, and understanding he has demonstrated have provided the
foundation and framework of success in which all of his family members have
developed and flourished; and
WHEREAS,
this distinguished man has given inspiration to many through his high ideals,
morals, and deep concern for his fellow citizens and he possesses the vast
wisdom which only comes through experience and the strength of character which
are achieved by overcoming the many challenges of life; and
WHEREAS,
he is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for
integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and by the example he has made
of his life, he makes this world a better place in which to live, and it is only
fitting and proper that he be appropriately recognized during this very special
and memorable time of his life.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join in in commending Deacon Sally Thomas on the occasion of his 100th
birthday and wishing him many more years of
happiness.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that
the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit
an appropriate copy of this resolution to Deacon Sally Thomas.
