A RESOLUTION


Honoring and celebrating the 100th birthday of Mrs. Mary Hines Brown; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Mrs. Mary Hines Brown was born on February 3, 1910, the beloved second oldest of 12 children to the late Simon and Sarah Hines; and

WHEREAS, born and raised in the Long Reach community, Mrs. Brown attended Ridgeland and Clay Bank school; and

WHEREAS, she was united in love and marriage to Bishop Sam Brown, Sr., on November 6, 1927, and has been blessed with 16 children, 11 boys and five girls; and

WHEREAS, the devotion, patience, and understanding she has demonstrated have provided the foundation and framework of success in which all of her family members have developed and flourished; and

WHEREAS, a woman of deep and abiding faith, Mrs. Brown is an active member of New Church of Christ of the Apostolic Faith in the Freedman Grove community; and

WHEREAS, this distinguished gentlewoman has given inspiration to many through her high ideals, morals, and deep concern for her fellow citizens and she possesses the vast wisdom which only comes through experience and the strength of character which is achieved through overcoming the many challenges of life; and

WHEREAS, she is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and by the example she has made of her life, she makes this world a better place in which to live, and it is only fitting and proper that she be appropriately recognized during this very special and memorable time of her life.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body join in commending Mrs. Mary Hines Brown on the occasion of her 100th birthday and wishing her many more years of happiness.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mrs. Mary Hines Brown.
