A
RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Reverend Henry Clay Ficklin on the occasion of his 31st pastoral
anniversary; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Reverend Henry Clay Ficklin has devoted 31 years to preaching the Word of God
and leading his community at Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church in Macon,
Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
Reverend Ficklin has demonstrated his commitment to teaching the Gospel,
witnessing Christ through word and deed, and addressing the physical,
psychological, intellectual, and spiritual needs of others; and
WHEREAS,
during his time leading Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church, the church has
grown into a phenomenal place of worship, uplifting the community like the light
of Bethlehem and serving as a spiritual leader and place for fellowship;
and
WHEREAS,
whether the task is preparing a sermon, visiting the sick, counseling the
troubled, baptizing a new believer, or acting as a theologian, educator,
administrator, or humanitarian, Reverend Ficklin serves as a shining example of
God's righteous path; and
WHEREAS,
as a minister of the Gospel, Reverend Ficklin has shown the energy, devotion,
and commitment truly reflective of divine guidance which has allowed the Word of
God to spread throughout the community; and
WHEREAS,
on September 26, 2009, Reverend Ficklin celebrated the 31st anniversary of his
pastorship with Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church; and
WHEREAS,
the unmatched spiritual assistance offered by Reverend Ficklin is a source of
strength and direction for persons in all walks of life and from all economic
strata; and
WHEREAS,
Reverend Ficklin's guidance and inspiration have helped establish Mt. Vernon
Missionary Baptist Church as a community presence, allowing the church to serve
as an uplifting spiritual beacon of hope; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that this enduring example of God's message
of peace and love be recognized and congratulated for his innumerable good works
rendered on behalf of persons in need.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that Reverend Henry
Clay Ficklin is hereby congratulated on the wonderful occasion of his 31st
pastoral anniversary and commended for the leadership and guidance he has
provided the members of his church and the surrounding community.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Reverend
Henry Clay Ficklin.
