RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the Concerned Black Citizens Coalition; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Concerned Black Citizens Coalition has sponsored the Martin Luther King
Celebration in Clayton County, an annual celebration that has been held for the
Clayton County Ecumenical Service, for the past 27 years; and
WHEREAS,
the Concerned Black Citizens Coalition is a civic organization in Clayton County
dedicated to improving the quality of life for the citizens of the community;
and
WHEREAS,
the organization is committed to civil rights and social justice and has held
political forums and community forums to inform the citizens of key issues that
affect the community; and
WHEREAS,
the Concerned Black Citizens Coalition spearheaded the effort to have a school
named in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and worked until that effort
became a reality; and
WHEREAS,
the coalition's significant organizational and leadership talents and
sensitivity to the needs of the citizens of its community have earned it respect
and admiration; and
WHEREAS,
the dedicated efforts and amazing work of the Concerned Black Citizens Coalition
is worthy of recognition.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend the Concerned Black Citizens Coalition for its outstanding
services in Clayton County and extend to it sincere best wishes for the
future.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Concerned
Black Citizens Coalition.
