Amend
the Senate Health and Human Services Committee substitute to HB 954 (LC 25
6051S) by replacing line 54 with the
following:
physicians
certify that
the pregnancy
is diagnosed as medically futile, as such term is defined in Code Section
31-9B-1, or in reasonable medical judgment
the abortion is necessary
in

inserting between lines 90 and 91 the following:

'Medically futile' means that stage of a pregnancy when, in the judgment of the
attending physician using the appropriate standard of care for making such a
determination, he or she diagnoses the unborn child with a congenital or
chromosomal anomaly that is incompatible with life.
