1                          Senate Resolution 
2         A resolution recognizing the Guardian Ad Litem Program 
3         on the occasion of its 30th Anniversary. 
4 
5         WHEREAS, the Guardian Ad Litem Program’s sole mission is to 
6  represent the best interests of abused and neglected children 
7  involved in dependency court proceedings, and 
8         WHEREAS, for 30 years, the Guardian Ad Litem Program team 
9  has provided independent advocacy for many hundreds of thousands 
10  of dependent children in this state, and 
11         WHEREAS, in 2010, the Guardian Ad Litem Program achieved a 
12  previously unmet milestone by exceeding 7,000 volunteers, and 
13         WHEREAS, for 30 years, Guardian Ad Litem volunteers have 
14  donated time and mileage worth millions of dollars to the State 
15  of Florida and provided an invaluable service to dependency 
16  court judges, and 
17         WHEREAS, many maltreated children in Florida need an 
18  independent advocate to speak on their behalf, and 
19         WHEREAS, the Guardian Ad Litem Program has enhanced local 
20  communities and the lives of Florida families and children, NOW, 
21  THEREFORE,

23  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida: 
24 
25         That the Guardian Ad Litem Program is congratulated on the 
26  occasion of its 30th Anniversary and commended for its many 
27  years of service representing the best interests of Florida’s 
28  dependent children.
