House Resolution
2A resolution commending the University of Florida Women's
3Swimming and Diving Team for winning the 2010 NCAA
4Division I Women's Swimming and Diving Championships.

6 WHEREAS, the University of Florida Gators have long been
7recognized for their tradition of excellence in all
8intercollegiate sports, and
9 WHEREAS, the University of Florida Women's Swimming and
10Diving Team has continued this tradition of athletic excellence,
11achieved and maintained through their hard work, determination,
12and a team-first attitude, and
13 WHEREAS, the Florida Gators last won the national title in
141982 in the inaugural NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving
15Championships, and
16 WHEREAS, the University of Florida Women's Swimming and
17Diving Team on Saturday, March 20, 2010, at the Boilermaker
18Aquatic Center in West Lafayette, Indiana, scored 382 points,
19beating Stanford University by 2.5 points in the second-closest
20win in the history of the competition, and
21 WHEREAS, on the way to the team victory, twelve student-
22athletes under Head Swimming Coach Gregg Troy earned All-America
23status, shattering five Florida records and earning two national
24titles, and
25 WHEREAS, Head Coach Gregg Troy was named 2010 NCAA Women's
26Coach of the Year, and
27 WHEREAS, under Head Coach Gregg Troy and Coaches Donnie
28Craine, Pete Knox, Anthony Nesty, Leah Martindale Stancil, and
29Martyn Wilby, the University of Florida Women's Swimming and
30Diving Team came together to form a championship team, with
31Coach Troy remarking, "[t]his really was a team effort, and
32there was no room for error," NOW, THEREFORE,

34Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
35Florida:

37 That the House of Representatives salutes the University of
38Florida Women's Swimming and Diving Team for winning the 2010
39National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I
40Championships, its second national title in the history of the
41University of Florida.
42 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be
43presented to the University of Florida and to each coach and
44member of the University of Florida Women's Swimming and Diving
45Team as a tangible token of the sentiments expressed herein.
