2A resolution recognizing March 19, 2010, as the first
3annual "Kappas at the Kapitol Day" in Florida.

5 WHEREAS, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., is a public
6service organization founded on January 5, 1911, by ten great
7men at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, where its
8grand objective was to unite college men in a bond of
9fraternity, and
10 WHEREAS, since the beginning of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity,
11Inc.'s existence, its members have vowed to make great
12achievements in all fields of human endeavor, and
13 WHEREAS, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., is a brotherhood
14of college-educated men committed to executing the fraternity's
15ideals through its Guide Right programs: GLAD (Greeks Learning
16to Avoid Debt), Sunday of Hope, iKare (International Kappa
17Action Relief Effort), the Piney Woods School, the Kappa Alpha
18Psi Foundation, political awareness programs, and international
19awareness and involvement, and
20 WHEREAS, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., recently
21celebrated 99 years of exemplary service and support to local
22communities, leading dialogue on public policy issues,
23supporting quality education, and producing new projects to
24stimulate current and future economic growth, and
25 WHEREAS, with over 100,000 college-educated men initiated
26since the fraternity's founding in 1911 and over 400
27undergraduate chapters and 391 alumni chapters worldwide,
28including 41 chapters located in Florida and the Bahamas,
29members of Kappa Alpha Psi are clearly focused and visible as
30corporate and civic leaders, respected public officials,
31acclaimed academicians, and activists in their own right, and
32 WHEREAS, on March 19, 2010, members of the 43 chapters of
33Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., representing Florida and the
34Bahamas, will converge on Tallahassee to conduct the first
35annual "Kappas at the Kapitol Day," and
36 WHEREAS, Representatives Dwight M. Bullard, Oscar Braynon
37II, Perry E. Thurston, and Alan B. Williams are esteemed members
38of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., NOW, THEREFORE,

40Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
41Florida:

43 That March 19, 2010, is recognized as the first annual
44"Kappas at the Kapitol Day" in Florida in recognition of the
45many contributions that the members of Kappa Alpha Psi
46Fraternity, Inc., have made to this state.
