House Memorial
2A memorial to the Congress of the United States,
3petitioning that a convention be called pursuant to
4Article V of the United States Constitution to consider
5amending the United States Constitution to limit the terms
6of members of the Congress of the United States to 12
7years; providing that the purview of such convention be
8limited strictly to the consideration of this amendment;
9providing that this application to the Congress be a
10continuing application until the convention herein applied
11for is convened.

13Be It Resolved by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

15 That pursuant to Article V of the Constitution of the
16United States, the Legislature of the State of Florida does
17hereby apply to the Congress of the United States for a
18convention to consider the following amendment to the United
19States Constitution:

21 No person may appear on the ballot for re-
22election to the office of Representative or Senator
23who, by the end of the current term of office, will
24have served or, but for resignation, would have served
25in that office for twelve consecutive years.

27 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the purview of any convention
28called by the Congress pursuant to this memorial be strictly
29limited to the consideration of an amendment of the nature as
30herein proposed.
31 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this application by the
32Legislature of the State of Florida constitutes a continuing
33application pursuant to Article V of the United States
34Constitution, until such time as two-thirds of the Legislatures
35of the several states have made similar applications and the
36convention herein applied for is convened.
37 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be
38dispatched to the President of the United States, to the
39President of the United States Senate, to the Speaker of the
40United States House of Representatives, to each member of the
41Florida delegation to the United States Congress, and to the
42presiding officer of each house of each state legislature in the
43United States.
