       Senator Latvala moved the following:
       
    1         Senate Amendment (with title amendment)
    2  
    3         Delete lines 818 - 1073
    4  and insert:
    5         Section 13. Subsection (14) of section 395.4025, Florida
    6  Statutes, is amended to read:
    7         395.4025 Trauma centers; selection; quality assurance;
    8  records.—
    9         (14) Notwithstanding the procedures established pursuant to
   10  subsections (1) through (13) in this section, hospitals located
   11  in areas with limited access to trauma center services shall be
   12  designated by the department as Level II trauma centers based on
   13  documentation of a valid certificate of trauma center
   14  verification from the American College of Surgeons. Areas with
   15  limited access to trauma center services are defined by the
   16  following criteria:
   17         (a) The hospital is located in a trauma service area with a
   18  population greater than 600,000 persons but a population density
   19  of less than 225 persons per square mile; and
   20         (b) The hospital is located in a county with no designated
   21  or provisional trauma center; and
   22         (c) The hospital is located at least 15 miles or 20 minutes
   23  travel time by ground transport from the nearest trauma center
   24  any other provisions of this section and rules adopted pursuant
   25  to this section, until the department has conducted the review
   26  provided under s. 395.402, only hospitals located in trauma
   27  services areas where there is no existing trauma center may
   28  apply.
