SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 35

PROCLAIMING THE WEEK OF APRIL 22 THROUGH APRIL 28, 2012 AS ADMINISTRATIVE PROFESSIONALS WEEK.



WHEREAS, executive secretaries, administrative assistants, office managers, and other administrative professionals represent one of the largest segments of the labor force; and

WHEREAS, administrative professionals have increased their business contributions in recent years by mastering computer software, and by taking on vital information management roles; and

WHEREAS, a well-trained and fairly compensated administrative workforce is essential to economic success both locally and nationally; and

WHEREAS, the purpose of the International Association of Administrative Professional (IAAP) is to provide education, and training, and to set standards of excellence; and

WHEREAS, the Delaware members of IAAP recognize the importance of continuing education and of building business networks.

NOW, THEREFORE:

BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the 146th General Assembly of the State of Delaware, the House concurring therein, that the week of April 22 through April 28, 2012, is hereby declared to be Administrative Professionals Week, and requests employers everywhere to join in recognizing these outstanding professionals, and to provide them with training and support to continue their professional growth.


SYNOPSIS

The International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP) is the world's largest association for administrative support staff, with nearly 600 chapters and 28,000 members and affiliates worldwide.

Administrative Professionals Week, formerly Professional Secretaries Week, is a long-standing tradition of honoring secretaries, office managers, clerical supervisors, and other administrative professionals, during the last full week of April.Over the years, Professional Secretaries Week has become one of the largest workplace observances.The event is celebrated worldwide, bringing together millions of people for observances ranging from community luncheons and educational seminars to individual recognition for specific administrative professionals.This tradition continues as Administrative Professionals Week.
