DESIGNATING THE WEEK OF MAY 3, 2015 TO MAY 9, 2015 AS NATIONAL CHARTER SCHOOLS WEEK. |
WHEREAS, this year marks the 20th Anniversary of the passage of the original charter school law; and
WHEREAS, public charter schools are an integral part of Delaware's public school system; and
WHEREAS, there are currently 24 public charter schools in Delaware educating over 12,500 students; and
WHEREAS, Delaware public charter schools are instrumental in improving the educational achievements of students attending those schools through innovation and excellence in standards; and
WHEREAS, Delaware public charter schools offer Delaware students an opportunity to participate in specialized courses of instruction that challenges all students to reach their potential for academic success; and
WHEREAS, the creation of Delaware public charter schools resulted in an increase in the participation of parents and students in the education system; and
WHEREAS, Delaware public charter schools promote the principles of quality, accountability, choice, and innovation.
NOW THEREFORE:
BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the 148th General Assembly of the State of Delaware, the House of Representatives concurring therein, that the week of May 3, 2015 to May 9, 2015 be designated as National Charter Schools Week and that Delaware's public charter schools are hereby commended for their role in improving Delaware's public education system and enhancing their students' academic achievements.
SYNOPSIS
This Concurrent Resolution designates the week of May 3, 2015 to May 9, 2015 as National Charter Schools Week and commends Delaware's public charter schools for their efforts in educating Delaware students. |
