DELAWARE STATE SENATE

148th GENERAL ASSEMBLY

SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 1

EXPRESSING OUR SUPPORT AND UNITY WITH THE PEOPLE OF FRANCE AND EXTENDING PROFOUND SYMPATHIES TO THE FAMILIES OF THOSE WHO DIED IN THE TRAGIC TERRORIST ATTACKS IN PARIS.

WHEREAS, the worst terrorist assault to occur in France in more than 50 years was a three-day killing spree by radical Islamists in Paris that began on Wednesday, January 7, 2015, resulting in a massacre at the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, followed by a deadly hostage situation in a Jewish supermarket that Friday; and

WHEREAS, 12 people were killed in the initial attack on Wednesday, January 7, 2015, and 4 people were killed inanother attack two days later; and

WHEREAS, the entire world looked on with empathy for the innocent individuals and their families, and with support for police and leaders in France who had to cope with and put an end to these terrorist attacks; and

WHEREAS, around the world, when enemies of freedom perpetrate horrific acts of violence against innocent people, the nations and people of the free world will not be divided by fear, but rather, we will reaffirm our hopes and commitment to living in peace and respect for each other despite our differences.

NOW, THEREFORE:

BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the 148th General Assembly of the State of Delaware, the House of Representatives concurring therein, that we express our support and unity with the people of France and extend profound sympathy to the families of those who died in the tragic terrorist attacks in Paris.
