JOINING YWCA DELAWARE IN TAKING A "STAND AGAINST RACISM" ON THE 27TH DAY OF APRIL 2012. |
WHEREAS, the State of Delaware has a great asset in its diversity of people, including individuals of every race, nationality, sexual orientation and religion who contribute to making this State and nation successful; and
WHEREAS, racism prevents individuals from fully participating in and contributing to their community and eliminating racism and racial discrimination will allow us to celebrate the richness of diversity; and
WHEREAS, the YWCA Delaware offers programs and services designed to eliminate racism, achieve racial justice and embrace diversity and YWCA members strive to create opportunities for women's growth, leadership and power in order to attain a common vision of peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all people; and
WHEREAS, the YWCA and other community organizations across the country join together annually on the last Friday of April to raise awareness of intolerance and promote respect and appreciation of others;
NOW, THEREFORE:
BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the 146th General Assembly of the State of Delaware that April 27, 2012, is recognized as Stand Against Racism Day in the State of Delaware.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that all citizens are urged to join with the YWCA in efforts to move our country closer to a stronger, more just and unified America that offers opportunity and fairness for all and where all people live with respect, justice and dignity.
