HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 73
DESIGNATING THE WEEK OF APRIL 23, 2018, AS “TEACH CHILDREN TO SAVE WEEK” IN DELAWARE AND ENCOURAGING ALL CITIZENS TO TEACH THEIR CHILDREN TO SAVE.
WHEREAS, the Delaware Financial Education Alliance in partnership with the University of Delaware’s Center for Economic Education and Entrepreneurship, began sponsoring Teach Children to Save in 1999 to foster a better understanding of the importance of savings and to enhance financial skills; and
WHEREAS, Teach Children to Save is an opportunity for bankers to demonstrate their commitment to the community by teaching young people the value of saving; and
WHEREAS, Teach Children to Save recognizes and supports all third and fourth grade teachers who educate children in any public, charter, private, or parochial Delaware school; and
WHEREAS, Teach Children to Save has helped an entire generation of children by providing access to classroom resources and instruction to help them begin to make sound financial decisions; and
WHEREAS, last year, over 8,200 students in 75 schools throughout the State of Delaware participated in Teach Children to Save; and
WHEREAS, in recognition of the TWENTIETH anniversary of Teach Children to Save, we hereby designate the week of April 23, 2018, as “Teach Children to Save Week” to commemorate two decades of helping children save and to continue this important initiative.
NOW, THEREFORE:
BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the 149 th General Assembly of the State of Delaware, the Senate concurring therein do hereby designate the week of April 23, 2018, as “Teach Children to Save Week” in Delaware and encourage all citizens to teach their children to save.

This House Concurrent Resolution designates the week of April 23rd, 2018, as "Teach Children to Save Week" and encourages all citizens to teach their children to save.
