HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 72

RECOGNIZING THE STUDENT OFFICER LEADERSHIP TEAM AND STATE ADVISORS FROM ACROSS THE STATE OF DELAWARE PARTICIPATING IN THE 2019-2020 SESSION OF THE DELAWARE ASSOCIATION OF BUSINESS PROFESSIONALS OF AMERICA STATE LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE.

WHEREAS, on February 25th, 2020 and February 26th, 2020, approximately 1,000 Delaware Middle Level and Secondary students from the State’s public and private high schools, will convene at the Chase Center on the Riverfront, for the 2019-2020 session of the Delaware Business Professionals of America State Leadership Conference; and

WHEREAS, Business Professionals of America (BPA) is the leading Career Technical Student Organization (CTSO) for students pursuing careers in business management, information technology, office administration, marketing and other related career fields; and

WHEREAS, the Advisors and Board members of the Delaware Association of BPA are dedicated to developing and empowering student leaders to discover their passion and change the world by creating unmatched opportunities in learning, professional growth and service; and

WHEREAS, by participating in the State Leadership Conference, students assess real-world business skills and problem-solving abilities in finance, management, IT and computer applications; and engage in real-world experiential learning opportunities; and

WHEREAS, by achieving victory in a competitive event at the State Leadership Conference (SLC), students are eligible to compete at the National Leadership Conference (NLC) during the week of May 6 th , 2020 in National Harbor, Maryland; and

WHEREAS, the participants of the Delaware Association of Business Professionals of America, during their session, elected from among their ranks a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Historian and Middle Level Representative; and

WHEREAS, the young men and women known as the State Officer Leadership Team (SOLT), elected to lead the 2019-2020 State Leadership Conference, include:

Ryan Nkongnyu, 2019-2020 President, Appoquinimink High School

Pankti Desai, 2019-2020 Vice President, Appoquinimink High School

Nidhi Patel, 2019-2020 Secretary, Odyssey Charter High School

David Koval, 2019-2020 Treasurer, Delmar High School

Aaron Cave, 2019-2020 Historian and Parliamentarian, Delmar High School

Jennae Overton, 2019-2020 Middle Level Representative, Louis L. Redding Middle School; and

WHEREAS, the 2020 State Leadership Team, who implements this important career and technology education program every year include:

Dr. Lisa Wilson, Delaware BPA State Advisor, Delaware Association

Mr. Robert Schumacher, Secondary Level Advisor (2020) Classroom Educators Advisory Council

Dr. Eunique Lawrence, State Officer Leadership Team (SOLT) Advisor

Mr. Eric McGuire, Middle Level Advisor (2020) Classroom Educators Advisory Council

Mr. Richard Jester, Chair (2020) Board of Directors; and

WHEREAS, working in conjunction with the National Association of Business Professionals of America and the Board of Directors of the Delaware Association, BPA contributes to the preparation of a world-class workforce through the advancement of leadership, citizenship, academic and technological skills.

NOW, THEREFORE:

BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the 150th General Assembly of the State of Delaware, the Senate concurring therein, that the members do hereby commend each of the participants, advisors, board members and elected student officers of the 2019-2020 session of the Delaware Association of Business Professionals of America State Leadership Conference for their hard work.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that he members of the House of Representatives and the Senate do hereby extend to each participant sincere best wishes for success in all their future endeavors, together with the hope that these fine young Delawareans may one day find themselves as highly competent and skilled workforce professionals who enable business and industry to maintain the economic vitality and high quality of life associated with our celebrated United States of America.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the members of the House of Representatives and the Senate do hereby commend and thank the BPA Board of Directors for their dedication and vigilant stewardship of this outstanding program.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this Resolution be presented to each of the delegates of the 2019-2020 session of the Delaware Association of Business Professionals of America, and to the State Advisor Leadership Team.

SYNOPSIS

This Resolution recognizes the State Officer Leadership Team participating in the 2019-2020 Delaware State Leadership competition and commends the Delaware Association of Business Professionals of America.
