HOUSE BILL NO. 32

 

AN ACT TO AMEND THE CHARTER OF THE TOWN OF LAUREL RELATING TO TAX EXEMPTION FOR CERTAIN PROPERTIES LOCATED WITHIN DOWNTOWN DEVELOPMENT DISTRICT.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF DELAWARE (Two-thirds of all members elected to each house thereof concurring therein):

 

Section 1.  Amend Section 30(a) of the Charter of the Town of Laurel by making deletions as shown by strike through and insertions as shown by underline as follows:

Subsection 46.  To exempt by a two-thirds (2/3) vote of all the elected members of the Town Council a tax abatement on property improvements of a minimum of $15,000, for a five (5) year period on approved properties for all zoned properties located within the Downtown Development District.  Furthermore all town taxes, fees, etc. must be current with the town, in order for any property owner or business owner to qualify for such abatement.  

 

 

 

SYNOPSIS

This act amends the Charter of the Town of Laurel to allow for tax abatements for a five year period on all improvements of properties, for all zoned properties, located within the Downtown Development District and establishing the condition that all town taxes, fees, etc., are current in order to qualify for such abatement.
