AN ACT TO NAME THE TRAINING AREA OF THE JOHN P. MULHERN JR. EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT OPERATIONS CENTER TO THE JAMES E. TURNER, III EDUCATIONAL CENTER. |
WHEREAS, James E. "Jamie" Turner, III served as the Director of the Delaware Emergency Management Agency from 2002-2015 serving under Governors Ruth Ann Minner and Jack Markell; and
WHEREAS, his impact on the public safety community extends beyond his years as the Director of the Delaware Emergency Management Agency; and
WHEREAS, he served as the Executive Secretary for the Delaware Volunteer Firemen's Association from 2000-2002; and
WHEREAS, he served as an Emergency Service Training Administrator at the Delaware State Fire School from 1976 -2000; and
WHEREAS, he served as a communications specialist with the Delaware State Police from 1969-1976; and
WHEREAS, he has served as a member of the Clayton Fire Company since 1966; and
WHEREAS, he has demonstrated an exemplary commitment to public service;
NOW, THEREFORE:
BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF DELAWARE:
Section 1. The training area of the John P. Mulhern Jr. Emergency Management Operations Center in Smyrna is hereby named the "James E. Turner, III Educational Center".
