AN ACT CONCERNING EVASION OF RESPONSIBILITY IN THE OPERATION OF A MOTOR VEHICLE.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
Section 1. Subsection (f) of section 14-224 of the general statutes is repealed and the following is substituted in lieu thereof (Effective October 1, 2015):
(f) Any person who violates the provisions of subsection (a) or subdivision (1) of subsection (b) of this section shall be fined not more than [ten] twenty thousand dollars or be imprisoned not less than [one year] two years nor more than [ten] twenty years or be both fined and imprisoned.
This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections: | ||

Statement of Purpose:
To increase the penalties for hit-and-run drivers in the case of serious injury or death.
