AN ACT CONCERNING LIABILITY FOR DAMAGE CAUSED BY A DOG.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That section 22-357 of the general statutes, concerning the liability of an owner or keeper of a dog for damage done by such dog to the person or property of another person, be amended to clarify that damage to the property of another person includes injury to a dog or other companion animal or a domestic animal of such other person and that such owner or keeper shall be liable for economic damages sustained by such other person including, but not limited to, expenses for veterinary care, the fair monetary value of the animal and burial of the animal.

Statement of Purpose:

To provide compensation for injuries to a dog or other animal caused by another person's dog.
