AN ACT CONCERNING A RIGHT TO RESCIND A NURSING HOME CONTRACT.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

Section 1. (NEW) (Effective from passage) A person who signs an agreement to admit a patient into a nursing home facility, as defined in section 19a-521 of the general statutes, whether a family member, responsible party or person acting with a power of attorney, may rescind such agreement in a signed writing delivered by hand or by certified mail, return receipt requested, to the nursing home not later than midnight on the third business day after such person has signed such agreement. Not later than October 1, 2016, each nursing home facility shall include in any agreement for admission to the nursing home facility a conspicuous and clear notice of the right of rescission as described in this section and a rescission form that may be signed and delivered in the manner set forth in this section.

This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections:
