AN ACT PROVIDING ADDITIONAL FUNDING FOR THE NEW BRITAIN SCHOOL DISTRICT TO ASSIST WITH ACCOMMODATING STUDENTS FROM PUERTO RICO WHO WERE DISPLACED BY HURRICANE MARIA.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That the general statutes be amended to allocate one million dollars to the New Britain school district for the purpose of covering the costs associated with the influx of students from Puerto Rico who were displaced by Hurricane Maria.

Statement of Purpose:

To provide funding to the New Britain school district for the 2017-2018 school year to cover the costs associated with the unexpected influx of two hundred four students from Puerto Rico who transferred to the school district because of Hurricane Maria.
