AN ACT INCREASING THE THRESHOLD FOR PASSAGE OF UNFUNDED MUNICIPAL MANDATES.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That chapter 16 of the general statutes be amended to require the approval of two-thirds of the members of both chambers of the General Assembly for passage of any new or expanded unfunded mandate on municipalities.

Statement of Purpose:

To require a two-thirds majority vote of both chambers to pass any new or expanded unfunded municipal mandates.
