AN ACT CONCERNING TEACHER CERTIFICATION FOR CERTAIN OUT-OF-STATE TEACHERS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That section 10-145b of the general statutes be amended to require the State Board of Education to issue a nonrenewable permit that is valid for four years and includes a deferral from the Praxis tests to a teacher who is certified to teach in another state, territory or possession of the United States or the District of Columbia or the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, but who does not otherwise satisfy the requirements for professional certification in Connecticut.

Statement of Purpose:

To create a new teaching permit for teachers certified in other states, but who do not meet the requirements for certification in Connecticut.
