AN ACT CONCERNING ENGAGING AN OFFICER IN PURSUIT.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
Section 1. (NEW) (Effective October 1, 2013) (a) For the purposes of this section:
(1) "Peace officer" means a peace officer, as defined in section 53a-3 of the general statutes;
(2) "Person" means any person other than the operator of a motor vehicle who is subject to the provisions of section 14-223 of the general statutes; and
(3) "Serious physical injury" means a serious physical injury as defined in section 53a-3 of the general statutes.
(b) Any person who fails to promptly come to a full stop upon the signal or statement of any peace officer in uniform or prominently displaying the badge of his or her office shall be guilty of a class A misdemeanor, except that, if such violation causes the death or serious physical injury of another person, such person shall be guilty of a class D felony.
This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections: | ||

Statement of Purpose:
To establish a criminal offense for failure of a pedestrian or other person to stop upon the signal of a peace officer to correspond with provisions regarding the failure of the operator of a motor vehicle to stop the motor vehicle upon such signal.
