AN ACT EXEMPTING SCHOOL SUPPLIES FROM THE SALES TAX DURING THE SALES TAX-FREE WEEK IN AUGUST.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That section 12-407e of the general statutes be amended to provide that school supplies be exempt from the sales tax during the sales tax-free week that begins on the third Sunday in August.
Statement of Purpose:
To provide some tax relief to parents and teachers who make personal classroom purchases of back to school supplies to benefit individual students.
