AN ACT CONCERNING FEDERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR SERVICE ANIMALS OF TENANTS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That chapter 830 of the general statutes be amended to require landlords with a policy of prohibiting pets to permit tenants with a disability that requires a service animal or emotional support animal to possess such animal in accordance with the written guidance of the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development interpreting the Fair Housing Act, Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.

Statement of Purpose:

To make state law consistent with the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development's interpretation of federal law.
