AN ACT PROMOTING WATER CONSERVATION AND ASSURING ADEQUATE WATER SUPPLY.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That the general statutes be amended to require water companies to develop a rate structure that encourages water conservation and stabilizes revenues at levels that are adequate to sustain the prudent operations to provide members of the public with a safe, reliable water supply. Additionally, such plans would be required to be submitted to the Water Planning Council and the joint committee of the General Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to Public Health for the purposes of water conservation legislation relating to water supply pricing.
Statement of Purpose:
To restructure water rates to assure ongoing revenue stability necessary to protect the public access to a safe, quality water supply.
