AN ACT AUTHORIZING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A DUAL LANGUAGE MAGNET SCHOOL AND A STEM MAGNET SCHOOL.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

Section 1. (Effective July 1, 2016) Notwithstanding the provisions of subdivision (1) of subsection (b) of section 10-264l of the general statutes, the Commissioner of Education shall authorize the town of Windham to (1) establish, in partnership with Eastern Connecticut State University, a dual language interdistrict magnet school that offers English and Spanish instruction to students in grades preschool to eight, inclusive, and (2) convert Windham High School to a STEM interdistrict magnet school.

This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections:

Statement of Purpose:

To establish a dual language magnet school and a STEM magnet school in Windham.
